Our WHALE exhibition is located in the basement of the Whale Center as well as in a nearby building. You can explore the exhibition independently or join a guided tour. Many of our guides are whale researchers or students with a strong scientific background. They speak several languages and, during guided tours, introduce visitors to the fascinating world of whales. (if you choose a guided tour of our Whale Exhibition.)
The exhibition is divided into four themed rooms:
THE SKELETON ROOM: An introduction to marine mammal anatomy, featuring complete skeletons of three different species.
MAP & BRIEFING ROOM: Learn about the unique geographical of Andenes and why this area is a global hotspot for marine life.
THE DEEP SEA: Discover the mysterious world of deep-sea creatures and the remarkable adaptations that allow them to survive in darkness.
WHALE-FACT ROOM: Explore different whale species through artefacts, facts, and photographs. Learn what scientists can discover from whales and gain insight into ongoing local whale research.
The on-site Moby Dick Café is a cozy spot and welcoming place to relax and enjoy a meal while taking in breathtaking views of the harbor. It is the perfect spot to unwind before or after your whale safari adventure. Whether you are traveling alone or visiting as part of a group, the café’s warm atmosphere and friendly staff make it a inviting place to spend some time.
