The Whale Center
During high season the Whale Center is a vibrant visitor center offering a unique experience for nature, bird, and whale enthusiasts. Here, you'll find the reception area with our souvenir Whale Shop, the Moby Dick Café, and the Whale Exhibition.
We are located near the iconic Andenes Lighthouse at Hamnegata 1C. If you're arriving by car or motorhome, several parking spaces are available nearby.
We have two reception areas for our tour operations, where you can book and pay for your trips: one at "Sea Safari Brygga" for RIB boat tours and another at the "Whale Center" for the large boat. You will also find restrooms there. See the opening hours for both reception areas below.
Accessibility:

Our new exhibition is located in the basement of the Whale Center and in a nearby building. You can explore it on your own or join a guided tour. Many of our guides are whale researchers or students. They speak multiple languages and will introduce you to the fascinating world of whales if you choose a guided tour of our Whale Exhibition.
The exhibition is divided into four themed rooms:
THE SKELETON ROOM: A display of marine mammal anatomy, featuring complete skeletons of three different species.
MAP & BRIEFING ROOM: Learn about Andenes' unique geographical features and why this area is a hotspot for marine life.
THE DEEP SEA: Discover the mysterious world of deep-sea creatures and their adaptations to life in darkness.
WHALE-FACT ROOM: Explore different whale species through artifacts, facts, and photos. Learn what we can discover from these animals and gain insight into ongoing local whale research.
The on-site Moby Dick Café is a cozy spot to relax and enjoy a meal while taking in breathtaking views. It’s the perfect place to unwind before or after your whale safari adventure. Whether you're a solo traveler seeking a quiet moment or a group looking to socialize, the café’s warm atmosphere and friendly staff make it a welcoming place to stay.
