Arctic Wildlife 69° north
We offer a unique wildlife experience with seals, and seabirds. With luck - the orca or other whale species make an appearance.
Join us for an exciting wildlife safari with RIB boats, available year-round, and discover the wonders of nature off the coast of Andenes.
What can you experience?
The wildlife off the coast of Andøy is rich and diverse year-round. The majestic white-tailed eagle, with its broad wings, soars over the sea in search of fish and other prey. This monogamous bird of prey returns to the same nesting site year after year, offering unique opportunities for observation.
During winter, you can also encounter great cormorants, herring gulls, great black-backed gulls, common gulls, and the striking eider ducks. In the summer, the variety expands with northern gannets, puffins, and many other spectacular seabirds that bring life to the skies and coastline.
In addition to the birdlife, several seal species, such as harbor seals and gray seals, thrive in the waters just off Andenes. These curious and playful creatures are often seen near our boats.
For the truly lucky, killer whales and other whale species may also make an appearance. Our tours offer the chance to get up close to this incredible wildlife, depending on the weather and the natural rhythm of the sea.
Included in the ticket you can visit our brand new whale exhibition. Here you can experience, among other things, three large whale skeletons. We also offer daily regular lectures in the Whale Center about the ongoing research at 6 pm. The exception is when the researchers have a weekly meeting. Please tell us in advance if you are interested in our lectures.
