Andøy island Scenic Route

Discover one of Norway's most spectacular coastal drives! Andøya is home to one of the 18 Norwegian Scenic Routes, a 58 km stretch of road that winds along the island's dramatic west coast. Towering mountains, white sandy beaches, rugged cliffs and the endless Arctic Ocean create breathtaking scenery, with plenty of opportunities to stop for photos along the way.

But this route offers more than stunning landscapes. It also passes two remarkable space facilities. We drive by Andøya Space, the rocket range that became world-famous after the 1995 Norwegian Rocket Incident, when a scientific rocket launch briefly triggered an international security alert. We also pass Andøya Spaceport, Norway's new orbital launch site, which is attracting growing international attention from the global space industry, media and visitors alike. Where else can you combine spectacular coastal scenery with fascinating space history in a single journey?

The tour begins in Andenes, where you can meet your guide at our reception or be picked up from your hotel by arrangement. We follow the scenic coastal route south, stopping at some of Andøya's most beautiful viewpoints and places of interest before ending the day with a tasting of local specialities at the charming Marmelkroken, in the south of the island.
