Join us for an unforgettable experience!

Experience whale watching aboard M/S Reine, our traditional vessel and a symbol of Northern Norway's rich maritime heritage.
Travelling at a slower pace allows you to fully appreciate the Arctic Ocean, the dramatic coastline and the wildlife that calls these waters home. The journey itself is an essential part of the experience, inviting you to slow down, observe and connect with nature.

Every journey begins with the search. Together with our experienced crew, you will scan the horizon for the first whale blow or dorsal fin while learning about the whales, seabirds and marine ecosystem that make the waters off Andenes so unique. Whether you are on the open deck, the upper viewing deck or relaxing in the indoor lounge, you will always be part of the experience.

The waters off Andenes are home to a rich diversity of cetaceans. Depending on the season and natural conditions, you may encounter sperm whales, killer whales, humpback whales, fin whales, minke whales, long-finned pilot whales, Risso`s dolphins, white-beaked dolphins, Atlantic white-sided dolphins and harbour porpoises. Dolphins and porpoises belong to the same cetacean family as whales, and every sighting—whether it is a curious pod of dolphins or the powerful blow of a sperm whale—is a unique wildlife encounter.

Our experienced captains, guides and researchers combine local knowledge, years of field experience and ongoing scientific research to search for cetaceans while always respecting their natural behaviour. Throughout the trip, they will share fascinating insights into the animals you encounter and explain the exceptional marine ecosystem found off the coast of Andenes, where the unique underwater canyon and nutrient-rich waters attract whales and other cetaceans throughout the year.

M/S Reine offers a comfortable and authentic way to experience whale watching. With spacious outdoor decks, an elevated viewing platform, an indoor lounge and complimentary hot drinks and homemade vegetable soup served on the return journey, you can enjoy every moment at sea while taking in the spectacular Arctic scenery.

Wildlife is unpredictable, and that is exactly what makes every excursion special. The animals are free to follow their natural behaviour, making every encounter unique and every trip a different story. Whether you witness whales, dolphins or porpoises, or simply spend time surrounded by the spectacular Arctic landscape, every journey offers a memorable connection with nature.

Your ticket also includes admission to our Whale Exhibition, where you can discover more about whale biology, marine research and the species living off the coast of Andenes. During the summer season, we also offer Whale talks at the Whale Centre, where our guides and researchers share the latest knowledge from our ongoing research.

WILDLIFE

Remember, whales are wild animals! While we have a very high success rate for whale sightings, we cannot guarantee that the whales can be seen on every trip. BUT if the boat does not find any cetaceans you have the possibility to have a new trip for free on the first available tour, or any time in the future.
