Winter whale watching at Andenes with RIB
In our RIB boats, you're close to the water and get a spectacular view of these beautiful animals. The tour starts on land with a safety briefing and an orientation about the whales you see off Andøya before we board.
Our two brands; Whalesafari Andenes and Whale2Sea combine whale watching and research on these wonderful animals. Our guides are highly trained and are skilled communicators about the whale species, their social life and much more. Captains and guides are also highly trained in safety and will take good care of you as a guest! Get your camera ready to take outstanding shots of our whales!
WINTER BOOKINGS:
For off-season tours, these will vary - please check the calendar for available tours and contact us directly by email with any questions: whale2sea@whalesafari.no
WINTER IN THE ARCTIC AND IN ANDØY:
Winter in Northern Norway is colorful and beautiful. It can also be unpredictable, bringing challenging weather conditions. We recommend that all our guests plan to spend a few days in the area so that they have the option to reschedule for another day if the weather prevents us from going out on a particular day.
DURATION:
The trip lasts between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. The trip can be longer or shorter depending on factors such as where we find the whales, weather and sea conditions.
MORE WINTER ACTIVITIES:
If the weather is too challenging for us to go whale watching, or if you're staying in Andøy for a few days, we can offer both eagle safaris and Northern Lights tours.
Included: Thermosuit (water-repellent), life vest (mandatory)
Dos and Don'ts to make the best out of your adventure and stay warm:
Dos: ✅
- Wear warm clothes in several layers (best: wool)
- Warm socks and waterproof shoes
- Warm, waterproof gloves/mittens
- Optional: A small waterproof bag for a camera or cellphone
Don'ts: ❌
- Sneakers
- No gloves or thin gloves
- Unprotected camera/gear

WILDLIFE
Remember, whales are wild animals! While we have a very high success rate for whale sightings, we cannot guarantee that the whales can be seen on every trip. BUT if the boat does not find any cetaceans you have the possibility to have a new trip for free on the first available tour, or any time in the future.
