Combining bird and whale watching

Whale and bird safari For those fascinated by both birdlife and whales, this combination tour offers an experience where two of Andøya’s great natural treasures come together.

We first head out to the islets outside Andenes before continuing farther out to sea in search of whales. The birdlife in the area is varied throughout the year, with many different seabirds following the coast, the islets and the waters off Andøya. From May to early August, large numbers of puffins gather around Bleiksøya. This is also a good place to see white-tailed eagles, which often follow the puffins closely and may appear in large numbers while hunting for food. White-tailed eagles can also be seen outside Andenes and around the islets throughout the year.

Included in the ticket you can visit our whale exhibition. Here you can experience, among other things, three large whale skeletons. We also offer daily regular lectures in the Whale Center about the ongoing research at 6 pm. The exception is when the researchers have a weekly meeting. Please tell us in advance if you are interested in our lectures.
